In line with national guidance, Gretna Surgery will be operating differently to protect patients and staff from possible transmission of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
IF YOU HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS (a new continuous cough and/ or fever/ high temperate which is higher than 37.8C or above/ loss of taste or smell) THEN STAY HOME AND FOLLOW GUIDANCE ON THE NHS INFORM WEBSITE
IF YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ARRANGED YOU WILL BE CALLED THE DAY BEFORE TO MAKE SURE YOU DONT HAVE ANY OF THE ABOVE SYMPTOMS AND YOU ARE TO ARRIVE ON THE EXACT TIME OF YOUR APPOINTMENT AND TO RING THE BELL AND WAIT OUTSIDE UNTIL SOMEONE COMES TO THE DOOR. THIS IS FOR YOUR SAFETY ASWELL AS OURS.
All GP appointments are now telephone calls and if the doctor feels they need to see you they will arrange a videocall, photos to be emailed to the surgery or bring you into the surgery depending on what they feel is best.
The URL for a video call with the Doctor is https://nhsattend.vc/Gretna
Immunisations are still going ahead due to them been important to children’s health. You are to arrive on the time you were given and to use hand sanitiser when you come into the surgery. This is to try and reduce people waiting in the waiting room for when the nurse is ready for you.
All Nurse appointments are urgent only and please only come to your appointment if you feel well and have no fever, cough, illness…
Routine monitoring of chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertention, heart diseases… we are looking into re-introducing these safely and the nurse may phone you and send/email information leaflets to yourself.
Non-essential services such as minor operations, liquid nitrogen clinic, ear syringing, spirometry, weight clinics, women/ men health clinics, implants/coils will be cancelled for the foreseeable future to allow staff to concentrate on managing Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Do not hand your prescription into the surgery as we will not accept it at this moment in time.
PRESCRIPTIONS WILL BE SENT STRAIGHT TO THE CHEMIST OF YOUR CHOICE (within reason, speak to reception to discuss) TO REDUCE PEOPLE COMING INTO THE SURGERY DURING THIS TIME. PRESCRIPTIONS WILL ONLY BE COLLECTED FROM THE SURGERY IF VERY URGENT.
Call the prescription line ( 01461339248 – this is a voicemail service) and leave your name, date of birth and what medication you need or you can phone the Surgery ( 01461338317 ) to request a form to order your prescriptions online.
DO NOT STOCK ORDER. IF YOU REQUEST EXTRA WE WILL NOT PROCESS YOUR REQUEST AS IT WILL RESULT IN SHORTAGES
Prescription requests for Paracetamol (tablets and suspension) for patients who are not usually prescribed this on a regular basis will not be issued without clear indication.
If you do not regularly require asthma/ COPD medication such as salbutamol/ventolin/clenil inhalers these will not be issued “just in case” as there is no clinical need and it will lead to shortages.
We are currently not supplying patients with emergency packs (for asthma, COPD…) due to us been open Monday – Friday from 8am – 6pm.
The chemist do have a text message service so they send you a text when your prescription is ready to be collected to save people going to the chemist if their medication is not ready yet.
Please note it is currently taking 3-5 days for routine medication to be ready. If your medication has been sent to the chemist for same day collection please allow 3-4 hours before going to collect it.
If you get a sicknote from the Doctor which is NOT COVID-19 related we will post it to you.
